Therapists In Action

More Than Just Talk

You are a mental health professional who cares for your clients in the office and who wants to support your clients outside the office too. Join us in taking a stand for the changes and rights that will support your clients’ health, wellness, and safety in the real world.

MISSION

Through education and community-building, Therapists In Action works to empower and mobilize a collective of mental health professionals to advocate for social justice and liberation.

Therapists in Action is working to inspire, empower, and mobilize mental health professionals to engage in concrete advocacy activities related to societal issues such as, but not limited to, gun violence, reproductive justice, and systemic racism, which impact our clients’ lives and humanity as a whole.

Our core values are: embodiment, social justice and liberation, equity, service, education, accountability, and advocacy. We aim to create an embodied, anti-racist culture within our organization.

We are a group of licensed social workers, counselors, nurse practitioners, marriage and family therapists, and other mental health providers committed to turning our words into action and supporting our clients by working toward structural changes that will prioritize their health, safety, and wellness.

Therapists In Action operates on the traditional lands of several indigenous nations: Piscataway, Susquehannock, Lumbee, and Skaruhreh/Tuscarora — the original keepers of the lands we call Maryland and North Carolina. These lands were stolen, the people of these nations were killed, and their culture was taken from them. We honor the elders, past and present, and commit to paying a land tax. Make your own contribution here and take the Acknowledgment to Action Pledge.
